Installing a Torrent Client

Windows does not include a torrent client so one must be installed. This tutorial installs uTorrent as the client.

Download uTorrent

Download the stable version of uTorrent from their site: uTorrent download page.

Install uTorrent

To install uTorrent double click the utorrent.exe file you downloaded to start the application.

First choose how you would like to start uTorrent (start menu, taskbar, desktop). Next decide if you want uTorrent your default torrent client (usually yes). Third choose your connection type and speed as well as make sure your firewall port is open, and it is always a good idea to encrypt your torrents.

uTorrent is now ready for use.

Downloading a Torrent

Using a web browser (preferably Firefox). Go to a website such as Revision 3, find the link to the torrent file, if you set uTorrent as your default client, uTorrent should start to download the torrent automatically.
