Installing uTorrent on Mac OSX
This article explains how to get uTorrent working on Mac OSX. I don't have a Mac myself, but if you find something is a miss leave a comment.
uTorrent is currently only available for Windows. But we are going to mod it to work on OSX.
There are two strategies of doing this. The most obvious strategy, would be to install Parallels and run uTorrent as if it were any other Windows program.
The second strategy is to use CrossOver. CrossOver is in beta, but is already a very usable and stable alternative to installing a copy of the entire Windows operating system on your Mac, which is almost what you are doing when you run Parallels.
WARNING: CrossOver only works on Macs that have an Intel chip therefore you don't want try this on a PPC.
Download CrossOver Beta (it is available for free on the developer's site.) Once you have installed CrossOver Beta, most popular Microsoft programs will now run within OS X. uTorrent is one these programs.
Next, you need a copy of uTorrent. After downloading the Windows executable (utorrent.exe), double-click it and CrossOver should start bouncing in the dock with the little .exe symbol displayed. After a few seconds uTorrent should load.
The file structure that you see while trying to download a torrent is a tad confusing. CrossOver tricks programs into believing that there is a C: drive on your Mac, when there is not.
Do not save your files in the C: drive. You can get to your user folder by choosing:
Desktop > / > Users > Yourusername
