The process

Step 1: Getting Started

To get started you first need to install a torrent client. If you use windows we recommend Utorrent or Azureus. If you are running Linux give Ktorrent a try.

Step 2: Settings

You must ensure the settings of your torrent client are installed properly. The main gotcha here is your firewall, you have to ensure you have an open port.

Step 3: .Torrent File

Next you need to download a .Torrent file which you will open with your Torrent client. Once you have opened this file with your client the download will begin. Most modern clients now automatically open a .torrent file after download.

Step 4: Seeding

Once your download has completed you shared file will start to "Seed". Seeding means that you are sharing your completed file with other bit torrent users.
